Lawn Care Program

Lawn Care Program

Our lawn care program at Ant’s Plants is designed to provide everything your lawn needs to stay healthy, green, and beautiful. From fertilizer applications to weed management, our program covers all aspects of lawn care, ensuring your lawn looks its best year-round.

Our Lawn Care Program consists of 6 applications each year, timed perfectly to provide your lawn with the needed fertilizer, pre-emergent and post-emergent weed control applications when it needs it most.

Our Lawn Care Program Details:

The schedule that we follow to apply your fertilizer applications includes treatments for weeds, disease, and insects. We spread out 6 applications between March and December, approximately every 6 weeks.

Step 1 - Early Spring: During this visit we will apply fertilizer to help wake the lawn, scouting for and treating actively growing Broadleaf weeds, and applying the first of two pre-emergent applications. The pre-emergent will help with the weed seed that has yet to germinate like Crabgrass, Fox tail, Chickweed and many others. This visit is typically completed between the months of March and April.

Step 2 - Late Spring: During this visit we will apply fertilizer to feed new and rapidly growing lawn, scouting for and treating actively growing Broadleaf weeds, and applying the Second of two pre-emergent applications. The pre-emergent will Extend the control of the weed seed that has yet to germinate like Crabgrass, Fox tail, Chickweed and many others as well as give us some post emergent control of germinated annual weeds. This visit is typically completed between the months of April and June.

Step 3 - Early Summer: During this visit we will apply fertilizer to harden the grass plants cells encouraging better disease resistance entering into the humid summer, scouting for and treating actively growing Broadleaf weeds, and minor crop ups of grass weeds. Some examples for grassy weeds include Crabgrass, Nutsedge, and Kyllinga to name a few. This visit is typically completed between the months of June and July. (We also recommend Grub Control Applications During Step 3)

Step 4 - Late Summer: During the fourth visit we are focused on stress recovery from the dog days of summer. We will be applying fertilizer blend to encourage grass plant cell health and using Bio stimulants to encourage fast bounce back and recovery. We will also be scouting for and treating actively growing Broadleaf weeds. This visit is typically completed between the months of July and August.

Step 5 - Early Fall: Early Fall has two different tracks, depending on what point you are in the lawn care hierarchy. We may be applying Phosphorus fertilizers to aid in root development and seed germination, or applying and balancing growth fertilizer and scouting for and treating actively growing hard to kill Broadleaf weeds, like ground ivy. This visit is typically completed between the months of September and October.

Step 6 - Late Fall: During the Late Fall application we are focusing on winterizing the lawn and bringing it to successful dormancy, so that it can endure the winter, and come into the following Spring at its full potential. We’re often feeding the lawn with a balanced fertilizer, using humic acid to condition the soil and apply a maintenance rate of lime to address soil PH.

Our 6 Step Lawn Care Program offers everything your lawn needs for weed control and fertilization.

However we do recommend the following add-on services:

Grub Control Program:

Our grub control program is applied at the same time as your round 3 application in June or July. This additional application protects your lawn from grubs which is one of the most damaging pests to a lawns here in New Jersey.

Soil Testing:

Soil testing is an optional add-on service where we take samples of your soil and send them to a third party laboratory for analyzing. Once we get the results back we can modify your lawn care program to exactly what your lawn needs or provide additional services based on the results.

Aeration & Seeding:

With cool season grasses like we have here in New Jersey, aeration and overseeding is a necessary service to keep your lawn full because cool season grasses are a clump grass and do not spread. Without aeration and overseeding services your lawn will develop bare spots.

The cost of our lawn care program is based on the square footage of turf on your property. The best way to provide you with an accurate price is to request a quote online.

We measure your property online and typically get back to you in just a few minutes.

No, we don't have contracts and you can cancel at anytime. With a lawn care program, it is important to have realistic expectations on what can be accomplished in a certain amount of time. The condition of your lawn prior to our first application will ultimately determine the results you will see over a short amount of time. The longer you are on the program the better your results will be, within 1 year you should have the lawn you love!

After each treatment we will send you after care instructions based on the current weather conditions and time of the year. All of our fertilizer applications need to be watered in as they are a granular application and need water to be most effective. But we will let you know exactly what you need to do after each application.

Outside of after care instructions it is also important to mow your lawn regularly, we recommend once a week and to not cut it too short. The hotter it is the longer you want to cut your grass.
