Lawn Watering Tips
A lot of times I’m asked about watering after seeding. What I tell people is in the fall, watering isn’t 100% necessary. Now if you have an irrigation system that’s great, you should put it on and mimic rain. Long waterings followed by long periods of dryness, that’s what naturally occurs in most lots without irrigation systems. That would be like 40 minutes per zone, followed by no watering for the rest of the week, or 40 minutes per zone twice a week and no watering in between. We definitely don’t want to be watering every other day or absolutely not every day. If you can water, that’s great if you have a small area that’s struggling you can water that, but a lot of people can’t water their entire lawns. More than half of our customers don’t have irrigation systems at all and we see excellent results with the systems that we use, the aeration and overseed with the seed box, the slice seeding, the seed timing, and the seed selection. We have great results so if you can’t water, I tell people not to worry about it. If you can water, that’s great you’ll see the benefits. I don’t think that it’s that great of a difference if you can’t water, especially if you’re using the right seed, at the right time, and doing it with the right methods.
